Air Filter Effect

Room size and coverage area matters

In order to effectively clean your house of air pollutants, your air purifier must be able to properly clean the area it is placed in. Buying a large air purifier and running it on a low, high efficiency setting is highly preferable to running a small purifier on a high setting, because the smaller device will use much more energy to cover a small or large space.

Particle-elimination percentage

The best air purifier will trap a high amount of particulates in one cycle of air. We recommend selecting a purifier that traps well over 90% of particles in one single exchange. Most air purifier brands will list this percentage on the packaging; if the percentage is not listed at all, it is probably very low. Additionally, in order to have truly clean air, an air purifier should be able to exchange a room’s air several times per hour (we recommend at least 5 times).

Air flow

An ideal home air purifier both removes a high percentage of particles and has strong air flow. This combination is often referred to as the Clean Air Delivery Rate, or CADR. The higher the CADR rating, the faster the air purifier will clean the air.

Filter Change Indicator Lights

A filter change indicator light is extremely useful in alerting you when it’s time for a replacement filter. If you cannot remember the last time the filter was changed, you can simply check the device itself.
