The Reason Why More Wilmington Based Companies Are Investing In HVAC Chillers

HVAC Air Chillers on Rooftop Units of Air Conditioner for Large Industry Air Cooling system

We understand that owning and operating a commercial building is a costly endeavor. If you have made it this far without an HVAC chiller, you may question why you should bother spending money on it now. While the upfront costs may give you pause, it's the long-term return on investment that should motivate you to reconsider. An HVAC Chiller creates a more comfortable environment for your tenants. More comfortable tenants are less likely to log complaints and more likely to renew their lease. In addition, our new energy system will help you significantly reduce operating costs by using greater efficiency levels. As you can now see, an HVAC Chiller enables you to save money in the long run by keeping your tenants and lowering your energy costs.

Offering Budget Friendly Options To All Our Wilmington Neighbors

We understand that while the long-term benefits may be clear, making a major investment in upgrading your HVAC system will come down to upfront costs. This is why we are committed to getting to know your space and business on a personal level. This is what allows us to draw up a service package that best fits both your needs and budget. We are proud to offer a variety of annual, bi-annual, and quarterly service and maintenance packages for your consideration. How Exactly Do Chillers Work?

Now that we covered the benefits that HVAC chillers deliver, you may be curious about how they function.

A pumping system circulates cool water or a water/glycol solution from the chiller to the process. This cold water eliminates heat from the process resulting in sending the warm fluid back to the chiller. Thus, the process of water helps heat transfer from the process to the chiller.

Process chillers host a chemical compound called a refrigerant. Different temperature requirements require different types of refrigerants. However, they all operate within the same principle of compression and phase-change of the refrigerant from a liquid to a gas and back to a liquid. This method of heating and cooling the refrigerant and changing it from a gas to a liquid and back again is known as the refrigeration cycle.

The refrigeration cycle begins with a low-pressure liquid/gas mix entering the evaporator. Inside, heat from the process water or water/glycol solution boils the refrigerant, altering it from a low-pressure liquid to a low-pressure gas. Next, the low-pressure gas enters the compressor, where it is compacted to high-pressure gas. Next, the high-pressure gas enters the condenser, where ambient air or condenser water subtracts heat to cool it to a high-pressure liquid. The high-pressure liquid then goes to the expansion valve, which controls how much liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator, ultimately beginning the refrigeration cycle all over again.

Types of Commercial Chillers

There are three different types of HVAC chillers. They all deliver similar results, but they function based on the needs of the building and the client. This is why getting to know your company and space is so important to our overall success. We have listed below the different types of chillers we install. However, we suggest that you reach out to a member of our expert team and determine which option works best for your situation.

Chiller Types

  • Air Cooled
    • Uses in builders that are smaller in size and therefore does not require cool air to be transferred far
  • Water Cooled
    • Best for a large building like business parks and campuses due to their ability to cool large areas quickly
  • Evaporate
    • Ideal of dry climate-based properties due to their ability to remove heat quickly from any space
